Bio-imaging technology for better diagnostic tools

Research theme 4 continues on the Cyttron I delivered database and visualisation platform. This software will be extended for applications in pathology. We already have a framework for annotating and analyzing large numbers of images and structures. This is required to support knowledge discovery and pattern recognition tasks.

We want to make the Cyttron I database suitable for applications in pathology. In order to reach this goal, we have to professionalise the software environment. Furthermore we will evaluate, scale and standardise specific ontologies to contain detailed disease concepts. Out ultimate aim is to deliver a fully integrated data browser that allows 3D viewing and analysing of bioimaging data from any source. Clicking on components or segments will link to other data, either images or texts. This data browser will be integrated with clinical pathology applications in bone cancer and thrombus formation.
